About the Artist

Silkscreen printer, Photographer, Publisher & Fashion designer

Peter is presently working as a Print Artist, producing silkscreen prints, printed on handmade French/German cotton rag paper.

​

Peter Bainbridge is a multidisciplinary artist with a straightforward approach that typically pays homage to the simple things in life, including Australian icons and his pared-back nature melds poster aesthetics with a minimalist edge that celebrates the timeless fashion secret – less is more.

​

Bainbridge’s vivid style, clever wit, and bold design have seen his latest acquisition by The State Library of N.S.W. was chosen to be part of the refurbishment of the Executive Superior and Deluxe rooms at Sydney's Novotel Hotel at Darling Harbour, Supplying artwork to The Watsons Bay Hotel. Commissions from Le Grand Courtiou Chateau in Venne France. 3D tri billboards at The Felix Hotel in Mascot, for its penthouse night-club and is a regular contributor to Australian Harpers Bazaar Magazine.

His love for print began as a professional photographer which has seen his work published internationally in German Vogue, Korean Vogue, Madison Magazine New York and was invited to shoot for Numero Magazine Paris. Locally his work featured in Australian Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Elle Magazine, Marie Claire, and on the covers of Oyster Magazine and FHM Collections. His fashion experience has seen him work on advertising campaigns such as Thierry Mugler, Bettina Liano, Jag Clothing, Zimmerman and Absolut Vodka.

Peter then moved onto become the founder and publishing editor at Superfoto Magazine.

A broadsheet format quarterly fashion magazine for men/women with a deeper read.
A new fashion/culture magazine based on reviving everything that is valued in the arts, by exploring the connections between fashion and art, with original typography and photography throughout. It then changed its format to become a 120 page glossy magazine designed as a bi-monthly supplement for Fairfax Media's SMH & The Age newspapers. Sydney/Melbourne.

As a Fashion Designer and along with partner Rose Borg they were involved in several group exhibitions during their careers.

Peter and Rose were awarded a series of grants and commissions by The National Art Gallery of Australia Canberra. The Australian Gallery of New South Wales. Crafts Board Council New South Wales, The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences,  and represented Australia in 200 years of Australian Decrotive Arts 1788 - 1988 at The National Art Gallery of Australia Canberra, it also saw them being sponsored by M.A.C Cosmetics for publishing. Firmly establishing them in the art world.
