Peter Bainbridge

Artist, Illustrator, Photographer, Fashion Designer

Peter is presently working as a Print Artist, producing silk screen prints, printed on handmade French cotton paper.

Peter Bainbridge is a multidisciplinary artist with a current focus on printmaking, producing silk-screen prints on handmade French & German cotton rag paper composed of popping colours and shining subjects. His straightforward approach typically pays homage to the simple things in life, including Australian icons and the idea of the ‘underdog’. The colourful characters and their pared-back nature melds poster aesthetics with a minimalist edge that celebrates the timeless fashion secret – less is more.

Bainbridge’s vivid style, clever wit, and bold design have resulted in being chosen to be part of the refurbishment of the Executive, Superior and Deluxe rooms at Sydney's Novotel Hotel at Darling Harbour, Supplying artwork to The Watsons Bay Hotel, in Watsons Bay. Commissions from Le Grand Courtiou Chateau in Vienne France. 3D tri billboards at The Felix Hotel, in Mascot, promoting its penthouse niteclub. An exhibition at Olsen Irwin Gallery in Sydney and he is represented by Angela Tandori Fine Art in Melbourne.

His love for print began as a professional photographer which has seen his work published internationally in German Vogue, Korean Vogue, Madison Magazine New York and was invited to shoot for Numero Magazine Paris. Locally his work featured in Australian Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Elle Magazine, Marie Claire, and on the covers of Oyster Magazine and FHM Collections. Extending his fashion experience has seen him work on advertising campaigns such as Thierry Mugler, Bettina Liano, Jag Clothing, Zimmerman and Absolut Vodka.

Peter then moved on to become founder and publishing editor at Superfoto Magazine.

A Quarterly Fashion magazine for men/women.
A new fashion/culture magazine based on reviving everything that is valued in the arts, by exploring the connections between fashion and art.
Superfoto started as a broardsheet, newsprint style publication with original typography and photography throughout. It then changed its format to become a 72 page glossy magazine designed as a supplement for Fairfax Media.

Along with partner Rose Borg they were involved in several group exhibitions during their careers as Fashion Designes.
